Who are we?
EMPOWR is a mentor program aimed at helping young female professionals get access to mentorship. Our goal is to empower women to take the next step in their career, by connecting them to the right people and resources.
We aim to build a global mentor program which serves as a resource network, exceeding the borders of organisations. EMPOWR is a tool women can use if they seek career advice. Eventually we want to create an app to make this mentor program scalable, but currently we are slowly launching through our pilot programs.
How does it work?
Whilst most corporate programs are long term, our program is aimed at short term advice. Instead of having the same mentor for a long period, at EMPOWR women are matched with mentors per topic issue. This means that mentees will be matched to a different mentor for every mentor session.
After a successful pilot program, we are currently conducting our second pilot run, aiming to optimise EMPOWR’s functioning and work towards the desires we have for the future.
What is in it for you?
As a mentor:
You will get inspired by a range of young people with fresh perspectives and innovative ideas. These fresh perspectives will help you in your own line of work and can be reflective. Additionally, you will have the gratification of positively impacting the career of a young woman for the rest of her life. You are passing forward your knowledge from which a new generation of young women can benefit.
Apart from the impact you have, we will also make sure you have access to the right educational resources to improve your mentoring skills. A webinar series with mentor experts and coaches will be set up to help you maximize the impact of the mentor sessions for both you and your mentees. Additionally you will have access to events and networking opportunities to connect with the other mentors!
As a mentee:
You will experience one-to-one sessions with inspiring professionals from all across the world! Planning your life and career, entering the job market, changing positions or even professions, and generally navigating the work place can be extremely daunting, especially if you have limited access to advice from professionals in similar positions or who have had similar experiences. EMPOWR connects you to passionate individuals who are keen to discuss, share, connect and inspire. You will have time to discuss your situation and seek fresh perspectives on ways to approach your future.
